Below are the questions we're most often asked by learners. If there's anything else you'd like to know about our training, call us on 0845 177 0695.
Why should I choose Smart Training?
Smart Training has 17 years’ experience of delivering specialist training with a practical focus in the workplace and we are proud of our reputation for quality. Our tutors are highly experienced and committed to drawing out the best from each and every learner.
We offer a range of nationally recognised qualifications with the flexibility for learners to incorporate their own experiences. Furthermore, in our last official inspection we gained four top grades for outstanding training.
Is training really free of charge?
Free or subsidised training is available for learners who are in employment for more than 30 hours a week, have lived in the UK or European Union for the last three years and don't hold a UK recognised degree. Training is free for learners aged 16-18 meeting this criteria but, due to decreasing Government budgets, the Skills Funding Agency asks employers to pay half the cost of training for older learners . Smart Training can help towards these costs so the Employers' Contribution for those aged 19-24 is just £250 plus VAT and £500 plus VAT for over 25s.
If you do hold a UK degree, you may be able to get some funding from your local authority (in the area you work) towards the cost of your course. If you hold an overseas degree, we may be able to fund your training if your degree is not equivalent to a UK one - please contact NARIC to have your qualification verified. How are courses taught?
Our courses involve tutorials one day per month comprising theoretical and practical input. Outside of the tutorials, there will be a portfolio of assignments to complete in the learner’s own time.
What support is available to me during my course?
All learners will be assigned a Training Account Manager as a mentor – who will be their personal contact for help and support during the course.
Where will I be studying?
All courses involve tutorials one day per month, at locations across the country, or via the internet on our Online Training Academy. For details see the Training Centres section. Outside of this, courses involve assessment in the workplace.
I’m working full time and don’t have much time spare – can I still study?
Our courses involve tutorials one day per month comprising theoretical and practical input, or tutorials via our Online Training Academy. Outside of the tutorials, there will be a portfolio of assignments to complete in the learner’s own time.
How big are class sizes?
Class sizes are limited to no more than 18 students. This enables full participation in the course by all learners.
Will I need to buy any materials, equipment or books?
Fees are inclusive of all course materials. Resources are provided on our Online Training Academy, but there may be some books that you'd like to buy to help you with your studies.
