The qualification takes up to 16 months to complete and can be undertaken online through our Online Training Academy or by attendance at monthly study groups days. There you'll meet like-minded learners and dedicated tutors who will offer you all the support you need.
To start the course you'll need to have already gained your Level 2 Childcare Certificate and ideally have at least two years experience in a childcare environment. Those opting for Level 3 as part of a Government-funded Apprenticeship (see the Funding page for more detail) will also study functional skills - practical skills in English, maths and ICT, providing you with the skills and abilities needed to work effectively.
Level 2 at the three core skills is needed along with Level 2 Award in Employment Rights & Responsibilities and Personal Learning & Thinking Skills.
Assessment is by workplace observations, carrying out practical tasks at work, answering questions and writing assignments.
This course is only available to start before 31st August 2014 - after that time learners will need to undertake the two-year Level 3 Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educators).
